Can handwriting be really improved ?
Yes, why can’t it be. We always have enough time to improve our skills and when it comes to handwriting it becomes more easy. Since, handwriting is a learned and acquired thing, and not something which a person is inherently born with, it is always possible to improve and perfect it. There are several skills and techniques through which a person can easily improve the quality of his or her handwritings in short time. Some of them have been shared below :
- Write from your shoulders not from fingers · Since, handwriting is something that a person acquires at a very tender age, these techniques shall be employed right from the childhood. Instead of teaching your kid to write their finger, always teach them to use the shoulder while writing. Recent research shows that exercising the fingers while writing actually makes the handwriting worse. Conversely, putting the stress on the forearms and shoulder not only enables to write better but also increases speed.
- Try to write in air · Writing in the air can be a good start to improve your handwriting. Oftentimes, handwriting becomes bad because the muscle groups of the hand and palm are not trained well. Writing fake sentences in the air shall train your hand muscles well, thereby, improving handwriting.
- Always write on lined pages · To perfect the direction and orientation of the handwriting it is always advisable to write in ruled sheets rather than blank ones. Writing on blank sheets might get your line tilted to one side of the page. A neat and clear look can be achieved only if the orientation is good.
- Learn to draw perfect shapes · Bad handwriting is a result of poor drawing of shapes. Letters and alphabets are nothing but various shapes and therefore, practicing drawing various shapes would lead to betterment of the handwriting. Spend some time to fill the paper with lines, shapes like square, ‘O’ and similar other things.
- Inspire from yourself · Try emulating model handwriting. If you have a sample of a good handwriting then you can keep that as an example. Then you can imitate that handwriting. This is a very effective way of improving the style of writing.
- Start writing in bigger letters · The size of your handwriting is something that should be kept in mind while writing things. If the size is very small then your style automatically becomes illegible; a bigger and clear writing would naturally impress the readers which is legible.
