The personal interview is the most challenging round of the SSB
examination and yet is very crucial in determining your final
appointment. The questions and answers asked in this round assess the
candidates from every angle and they are frequently grilled and quizzed
in a difficult manner. The whole purpose of this is to put the candidate
in a challenging position and then assess his potential. Facing the
interviewer properly is very important and any wrong move may jeopardize
your chances.
This interview should not be taken as a formality unlike other job interviews because it assesses the suitability of the applicant for a post in the Indian defense. It is expected that the candidate with cooperate with the interviewer and maintain professionalism and decorum in the interview hall. Some important points have been shared below for the benefit of the students:
First Impressions Matters:
Always remember that in an interview, the first impression is the last impression.
Always lay important on dressing and appearance. This however does not
imply that wears gaudy clothes and goes for the interview. The dressing
should be clean, proper and formal and not clumsy. Make sure that you
wear comfortable clothes.
The body language of the candidate
The Body Language is also taken into consideration. The body language of a person speaks
eons about his nature, attitude and personality. Your body language
should be confident and sanguine. The way you sit, the way your talk and
walk are important markers of your character and hence, should be done
with grace and confidence.
Your communication skill plays a decisive role in assessing you.
You should be able to clearly articulate your opinions and comments.
Moreover, good communication skill also involves listening patience.
Wait for your interviewer to finish and then answer what he has asked.
Never interrupt to ask questions.
There is no need in the interview to be restrictive and conservative
You can open up your mind and speak freely. Your viewpoint and opinions
carry weightage and the interviewers take into consideration how freely
and independently you can think. However, you have to see that your
viewpoint should not be radically different from what the interviewers
think.
Interview is not a one sided business.
Thus, writing a
good exam is not an end to SSB and does not ensure a job; to crack the
procedure and bag a post in the Indian defense demands greater things
like cracking the interview. What is needed, therefore, is a combination
of knowledge, confidence and articulating powers.
