SCRA is a competitive exam organized by UPSC to recruit new talents in the Indian railways. UPSC conducts one exam of SCRA every year, last time it was held in 2013 and now it is going to be 2014. SCRA was started in 1927 by Britishers and is continued by the government of India till date.
Is there any Alternative way to take Admission in Indian Railways Institute of Mechanical and Electrical Engineering (IRIMEE) ?
Simply not. There isn't any other mean by which you can take admission in IRIMEE. One must clear the entrance exam conducted by UPSC to take admission in the undergraduate program in mechanical engineering.
SCRA 2014 E-Admit Card & Exam Date
Please remember that all admit cards for the participating candidates will release 3 weeks before the actual exam date. The exam date is however confirmed to be 12 January, 2014. All admit cards will be sent directly to your registered mail-ID’s. Alternatively, you can also download it from the UPSC website after its release.
