Last year, the bank exams for probationary officers were conducted by IBPS. For the first time in the history of bank exams, a common written exam was conducted for recruitment to 19 national banks in the country.

The IBPS Common Written Exam for PO was held successfully for a second time in July this year. The results for IBPS CWE PO have been declared. According to official numbers, more than 7 lakh candidates appeared for the exam. Of this, only 61000 candidates have cleared the exam. If you have cleared the exam too, you will get your PO scorecard.

What to do after you get your IBPS PO scorecard?

Since it is a relatively new format of bank exams, most students are stumped at the exact procedure of recruitment. While only successful candidates get the IBPS PO scorecard at this time, it does not guarantee an interview. Therefore, most students are confused about what to do next.

Start preparing for interview

Irrespective of your score in the exam, you must start preparing for interviews as soon as you get your PO scorecard. You never know what the future holds for you. At this stage, adopt a generic approach to interview preparation.

Work on your body language, communication skills, and gather enough knowledge about the banking industry. Prepare satisfactory answers for common interview questions like “Tell us about yourself”, “Where do you see yourself 5 years down the line?”, “Why the banking industry” etc.

Keep an eye out for notifications

Don’t forget to look out for notifications. Banks which are participating in the IBPS exams will release a formal notification about interview dates. You can find these notifications on the official website of the requisite banks.

Make sure you read all the finer details in the official notifications. For example, the eligibility criteria for some banks may differ than the eligibility criteria for CWE. The age requirement could be different, the language requirement could be different, among other things.

Fill the form

Once notifications are released, go ahead and fill the interview form. For this, you will need to visit the requisite banks. Don’t think about whether you have scored enough to be shortlisted. Just fill the interview forms for every participating bank. Once banks receive all the applications forms by a certain date, they will release a list of shortlisted candidates. Generally, banks shortlist candidates in the ratio of 1:4.

Wait for the call

Once you have filled in the interview form, wait for an interview call. If you have scored decent enough, you will get a call from at least one participating bank. Once you get the call, mould your interview preparation strategy accordingly. For example, if you have received an interview call from State Bank of India, read about the bank’s history, any recent developments in the bank etc. It will make you better prepared for the day of the interview.

Once you have done all the hard work, leave everything to fate. You will get the reward for your hard work.
