Clearing the written exam and aptitude test is not enough unless one
has successfully aced the interview. Answering interview questions
require a lot of mental effort and far-sightedness; on the basis of your
answers Interviewer can judge the mental clarity and personality of the
candidates. Questions like “Why you want to join us?” or “why do you
choose to work at our company?” or “Why do you want to work here?” may
sound simple but are difficult to reply.
When encountered with a question like “why do you want to work in this firm” there are a few strategies and tips to answer them.

Some among them have been suggested below:
- Firstly, you must realize that a question like this is intended to test whether you have done sufficient homework on the firm and its background. This shows the dedication and seriousness of a particular candidate. Your reply would immediately inform the assessors whether you have actually surveyed the company’s history and know its evolution or background.
- If you can answer this question effectively than half of your job is done right away. The answer needs to be persuasive and convincing enough and it should satisfy the inquisitiveness of the interviewer. He or she must know that you have done the background reading and is eager to grab the job in this company.
- To give a good answer you need to know about the company or the firm it is best to go through the annual reports of the firm, its newsletters, stock reports, articles and advertisements. This shall give a fairly broad overview of the company. The ups and downs of the firm should be known at length.
- When encountered with a question like this – “why do you want to join our company?”- do not come up with cliché tic answers like “yours is an esteemed firm” and so on. Rather be pragmatic and bold in your reply. The reasons that you furnish, whatever they may be, should be valid and sound, and should not be aimed at impressing the interviewers.
- Your answer should have poise and should not be unilateral. This means that your reply must contain the fact that both you and the company are likely to benefit from this hiring. Simply telling that you would serve the company to the best of your abilities does not sound convincing enough.
You should frame your reply beforehand, anticipating that something like this might come. You can say that “your company generates inspiration in me and its long history of success would be the best string to tie my ambition. It would be mutual; I shall gain from you and you from me”. Diplomatic answers like these impress interviewers a lot and your chances of acing the round would be much higher.
